CNC co-director and Professor of Physiology and Biophysics Adrienne Fairhall was recently appointed to the BRAIN Initiative’s Advisory Committee to the Director Working Group 2.0.

The Brain Research through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies (BRAIN) Initiative was announced in April 2013, as part of the White House Neuroscience Initiative. The primary objective of the initiative is the development of new tools and technologies to understand and manipulate neural circuits,  with the ultimate goal of revolutionizing our understanding of the human brain. The BRAIN Initiative covers a wide breadth of technology and research approaches, from neural cell type mapping to therapy development. The initial BRAIN working group created a roadmap of priorities and provided the framework for implementing the initiative. The new 2.0 working group will revisit the roadmap in light of progress to date, arising opportunities, and the tools and technologies that have already emerged from the initial 5 years of the BRAIN initiative. As part of the working group, Dr. Fairhall will provide input and scientific guidance on the initiative can best apply its resources to accomplish its mission. The working group will ultimately produce an updated Strategic Plan for the BRAIN Initiative.
